My materia medica illustrations started as a personal project to support the learning of remedies in my first year. Firstly I started by including Strange Rare and Peculiars, modalities and general remedy essence in body diagrams whilst listening in materia medica college classes. These started as mainly polycrest remedies. Coming from an artistic background and being a visual learner the project quickly developed into its own language; using similar icons or letters in shared remedy pictures. The language created, helps me to combine my passion and love for materia medica alongside my visual learning style.

When I began to think about my way of learning I started to combine illustrations using the initial letters of the abbreviated remedy name such as Lyc. ( Lycopodium).  I could recall the drawing as both the word and my own visual representation. This supports my own way of remembering the remedy. In the abbreviated letters I included Strange Rare and Peculiars, modalities and what I felt should be combined into the essence of the remedy for myself. Whilst drawing each remedy, I feel a part of the remedy essence coming through.
